If you are feeling below par and a bit down, how do you lift your spirits?
I’ll watch some sort of comedy programme. Any old thing will do!
Do you believe that laughter is the best medicine?
It is quite beneficial. But if you’ve got a bad cough, cough medicine is the best medicine.
What makes you smile?
Kittens 🙂 Or how about ducklings? I saw them in the river in Truro when I walked back from work last week.
Do you have a ‘comfort’ food?
Yes. Food.

What is/has been your favourite job/occupation?
Probably what I’m doing now – software engineering. Though the job I had at university was pretty fun, looking after halls of residence, looking after conference delegates in the summer and so on.
Is there a job you would never consider doing?
Quite a few I imagine. I had to do an aptitude test when I was at school in a careers lesson and it came out as “pig farmer”. I wouldn’t want to do that. I don’t think their test was properly calibrated…
Did your family own a business and expect you to join the ranks when you got older?
No.
Did/do you have a career requiring qualifications or did you learn on the job and work your way up?
Only the jobs in physics needed qualifications. You’d think my current job would, but they only wanted to see a potential for computer programming, which they determined via a testing process.

Have you ever wanted to be famous?
Only as a kid. Famous football player and all that.
Have you met any celebrities?
Nope, not a one. I doubt I’d recognise one even if I did. I don’t tend to recognise people I don’t know well out of context. So I suppose if Arnie S. came running down the street shouting “I’ll be back” I’d recognise him.
Has anyone ever asked you for your autograph?
Asked me? Why would anyone ask little old me for my autograph?
Is there a celebrity you wish to have met/meet?
No. There are, but I wouldn’t want to actually meet them. They might disappoint and then that might spoil some of my favourite books/films a bit.

What frustrates you the most about modern day living?
How much busier it has got everywhere. I don’t know that’s a “frustration” as such, but still.
What was your favourite decade and why?
I don’t know that I have a favourite decade, as such. My best times were at university, but that started in the 80s and finished in the 90s.
What was your ‘best buy’ (for example: house, car, clothes, computer etc)
Probably my house. I managed to arrange it so that when I retire it’s all paid off so I won’t need to pay rent or mortgage out of my pension; It’s a nice little house, too 🙂
Do you have any non medicinal allergies?
I’m slightly allergic to pollen, probably grass pollen. But only in a very small “itchy throat and eyes” way, not in a full scale “threat to life” way.

Do you have a favourite movie you never tire of watching?
Several. Die Hard (every Christmas Eve), Battle Los Angeles, Aliens, the Star Wars films, The John Wick films, the Resident Evil films, the Underworld films, the list goes on!
Do you have a favourite song or special song as a couple?
Couple? Couple?
How do you relax in the evenings?
TV, video games and reading. Sometimes a walk in the country if it’s nice weather.
Do you celebrate special birthdays or anniversaries?
We celebrate birthdays, but we don’t do anything special for “special” years.

Have you ever lied about your age?
Not that I recall.
Is there any time in your life you would like to relive?
One or two times. Not go back in time and actually relive though, as that could change my future. I could return to the present and find myself in a completely different timeline 😮
Do you own any antiques?
I don’t think so.
Would you like to know some of the history of places you’ve visited?
I’d like the know the real history of some places, like Tintagel up the North Cornwall coast. Did King Arthur really hold court there? Did he have a round table? Did some woman in a lake really chuck him a magic sword? Or did he sit on a big throne and have people’s heads lopped off for “looking at him funny”?

Have you ever roller skated?
Yes, for about 3 seconds. It was when I was a kid around at a friend’s house. I was hanging onto a fence so I didn’t fall over, but I couldn’t stand up unaided so I took them off.
Have you ever ridden a horse (or donkey)
Nope.
What was your favourite ride at a fun fair?
None of them. I don’t really like fun fair rides. Or fun fairs.
Choice of fun fair prizes: coconut, cuddly toy, £10 cash prize.
I’ll take the cuddly toy, please!

Have you ever had a hangover? How old were you?
Yes, loads. I was at university! The last one was in my twenties.
Was your favourite social gathering place a pub, club, or restaurant?
Back then it was the university Student Union (bar/club). A place where students would gather, listen to music, play pinball and get hammered.
Which do you prefer to play: darts, pool/snooker, table football or a card game?
I’m not massively keen on any of them. I suppose given those choices I would go for the card game. Less chance of looking like a talentless fool.
Do you still meet up with your friends on a regular basis?
Not so much, I see one friend semi-regulalry, usually for walks in the country around the village.

Have you ever attended a First Aid Course?
I went to one years ago for work so I could be one of the nominated first aiders. Just the very basic course.
Apart from grazed knees and applying a band aid, have you ever applied First Aid?
No. No grazed knees, either.
Are you squeamish about the sight of blood?
No. In fact I had a blood test on Monday and I watched the needle go in and the blood spurt into the little plastic receptacles.
How far away is the nearest hospital?
The main big hospital for my county is about 12 miles maybe but via a lot of speed-limited areas so maybe 30 minutes outside of rush hour, 45 at busy times. An ambulance would get there a lot faster, though!
There’s a little post-op recuperation-type hospital in Newquay about the same distance, and a hospital with a minor injuries unit about the same distance as well.

Regardless of whether you had them or not, can you remember three popular toys from when you were a child?
There was an electronic “Mini-Munchman” game, which was a little handheld Pacman knock-off, which I had and was very good at. Then of course the Rubik’s Cube, which I had but couldn’t even do two sides let alone finish it. For number three, the “Simon Says” electronic game, the one which lit up colours with sounds and you had to repeat them. While looking that one up, I noticed they still sell them!
Did you ever want something specific as a child, but never had it?
Not that I recall. I probably did at times, but nothing I can remember now.
Do you still have any toys or games from your childhood?
No, I don’t think so. There might still be something knocking around in Mum’s loft!
I think I’ve asked this before, but what was your favourite toy as a child?
Either my bike or a wooden fort my Dad made for us.
