“So what’s all this gubbins for, again?”

“The heels are for my night out.”

“Yeah, I got that.”

“The art book reminds me of the suffering endured through the ages for the sake of beauty. Like me in my heels.”

“The red book is a medical reference so I know everything that’s gone wrong with my feet after my night out in my heels.”

“And the little suitcase?”

“Antiseptic, plasters and whatnot. To fix my feet up ready for my next night out. In my heels.”

“I’d switch to flats if I were you.”

“Dad, don’t you know anything? Men!

    Very SENSIBLE heels!

She’s got it exactly right! Now I wear combat boots and never have a problem! 🙂

I can’t wear heels, weak ankles and such. Besides, I’m tall enough. 🙂

That is one well-prepared girl. I love it.

  5. April 19, 2017 at 10:37 pm

I prefer flats. Comfort over beauty! 😁

LOL brilliant take on the photo, Ali 😀

  8. April 20, 2017 at 1:41 am

Ha! I am that dad now. Nice one.

  9. April 20, 2017 at 5:40 am

Those shoes look like a combination of oxfords my grandmother and great aunt wore and today’s heels. I gave up wearing heels years ago. I’m still not sure what damage they caused me. I know I have back problems. Good writing, Ali.

    • April 20, 2017 at 7:09 am

That’s what I thought. Like a school shoe but with heels.
      I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Poor girl… I guess she isn’t aware there are guys like me who don’t particularly care for girls who wear stilts on their feet. Or maybe she is aware and is purposely suffering to avoid me…

    • April 20, 2017 at 7:11 am

I’m sure that’s not the case, ES 🙂

    Dear Ali,

The things we women sacrifice for style and beauty. I’m surprised her dad doesn’t realize this. For myself, I went to comfortable shoes many moons ago. Good story.

    • April 20, 2017 at 11:30 am

      Dear Rochelle,
I’m glad that we chaps don’t have high heels to worry about.
I’m glad you liked the story!

  13. April 20, 2017 at 11:34 am

Hehe, high heels aren’t the most practical shoes there is, that’s fo sure. Sexy, but not practical;)

I apologise on behalf of all us plebs!

  15. April 20, 2017 at 12:52 pm

In my younger years, I would have sided with the daughter – now I’m all about comfort! Great story 🙂

    • April 20, 2017 at 3:35 pm

I’ve always been all about the comfort 🙂
I’m glad you liked my story!

What? No funny intro? You’re slacking off, Ali…
That said, what do guys know about shoes? Most love to look at that elongated leg and have no clue the suffering endured to give that effect… Can’t believe I still do it on occasion… 😉

    • April 20, 2017 at 3:37 pm

I nearly wrote (referring to the title) “no pain… sounds good to me!” but that’s ripped off “Moving” with Richard Pryor 🙂
Walking round on tippie-toes all day certainly doesn’t sound like much fun.

This is such fun! Very well done.

I actually saw a video about 4-5 men who volunteered to wear heels for a day. About half way through, one guy took them off and chucked them across the street, another fellow practically broke his ankle climbing stairs, and one guy discovered they were incredibly hard to run in.

    • April 21, 2017 at 6:55 am

Thanks, I’m glad you liked it!
I wore heels once at a university Christmas party where I was dressed up as a woman 🙂 Only for a couple of hours, though. Once we’d done the song on stage I changed to jeans and trainers.

What we all do for the man…😹Pawkisses for a Happy Feet☺❤

She’s a resourceful girl. I used to wear heels regularly in my younger days. But now I go for comfort!

    • April 23, 2017 at 6:05 am

She has everything planned out, but maybe she should switch to more comfortable shoes sooner rather than later 🙂

Take it from someone who used to walk miles in stiletto heels. She’s gonna pay… Good one.

    • April 23, 2017 at 5:21 pm

She is, but at least she’s prepared. I’m glad you liked it!

  23. April 23, 2017 at 8:50 am

Great and very amusing take. I’ve always said to my daughter, “God gave us feet with a wide expanse to walk on and you spend all your efforts trying to get it down to the smallest little point.” Men and women will never come together on the subject of shoes, there’s an unbridgeable gulf there.

    • April 23, 2017 at 5:22 pm

Shoes and handbags. Always going to be a mystery!

Great story Draliman, incredible job! A comforting picture would have been… a) the shoes b) a tote for carrying them c) flats to wear in between.

  25. April 23, 2017 at 5:16 pm

    this was great, dral. *smiles*

This lady and well informed. I loved this take on the prompt. Very funny. Well written.

This is one girl with her head screwed on. Although, I think maybe a shorter heel might cause her less trouble. Very funny and lots of fun.

    • April 24, 2017 at 11:43 am

I imagine one day she’ll swap her high heels and medical paraphernalia for shorter heels 🙂

  28. April 24, 2017 at 9:14 pm

No man alive could advise a woman re: her shoes; least of all, dad.

  29. April 25, 2017 at 11:46 am

I liked this story! I could see this happening in real life when my daughter is older.

    • April 25, 2017 at 1:14 pm

You have that to look forward to 🙂

  30. April 25, 2017 at 1:33 pm

Actually I am with Dad. But I think I might be in the minority 😀

  31. April 25, 2017 at 8:18 pm

I wore those pesky heels for years. I’d swear they were created by men.
Fun dialog in your story. I enjoyed it.
