Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Dale.

The snow lay heavy on the ground. All was silent, sound muffled, like the whole world held its breath. Nearby a street lamp cast a warm, welcoming glow.
Josh smiled, lay down and waved his arms and legs around. He stood and admired his snow angel.
How beautiful. What a fantasticβ¦
The world shook, then turned upside-down! Josh screamed as he was catapulted against the house opposite. It shook again until at last he lay breathless on the ground, both legs shattered. It began to snow.
Get miniaturised! they said. Have a peaceful holiday in a snow globe! they said.
Bollocks.
Man, I just love your brain.
How do you come up with such fabulous ideas?
Just perfect.

I like the loose cog, gives you character. Or rather is give you characters who we love to read about.

Sounds like he bought one of those travel vacation packages we’re often warned about. π
Very imaginative take on the prompt.

Yes, or worse (dum dum DUM) a timeshare π

I guess you saw the movie too, huh.

This could be a movie. “Timeshare Nightmare” I’d call it.

Haha, I hope that holiday came with insurance. The film ‘Downsizing’ is worth seeing if you haven’t already – a similar idea to this, minus the snow globe.

That was a great movie! π

I’ll keep an eye out for it! Sadly no insurance was included in the package π¦

I guess they left out the small details. Great take on the photo! π

Not my idea of a fun vacation.

Definitely not.

I tried to comment earlier but I think WordPress might be temporarily broken since my comments never made it on the last few blogs I’ve tried. I was going to say that a snow globe isn’t my idea of a prime vacation spot.

It’s not just me then – none of my comments are appearing. I’ve popped a sentence at the top of my story advising people to check their spam folder, that’s where I found your comments plus a bunch of others.

I really enjoyed your creative take on the prompt! Kind of a creepy vibe. I hope he’s not stuck in there forever. π

I hope not too. Probably just for the length of his “holiday”. We can only hope he’s still alive at the end of it!
I’m glad you enjoyed it π

What was he thinking? Of all places to go when miniaturised… has he not seen just how the snow gets to float? You have a great creative mind, Ali!

That’s true. Maybe he has some kind of breathing apparatus π
I’m glad you enjoyed it!

PS I had a problem a while back with none of my comments showing up in other people’s blogs. I ended up contacted WP tech support and they were able to right the wrongs. I’ve no comment from you in my spam folder. π

Dear Rochelle,
I’m glad you liked it!
I haven’t commented on many people’s stories yet as I’m worried they’ll never find them and think I’m ignoring them π¦ I just tried again and still no joy so I guess I’ll give support a try.
Thanks,
Ali

Well, I guess he found out what was wrong with that idea. Poor Josh. Your imagination is wandering in strange directions again, Ali. But it’s entertaining. π — Suzanne

See, there’s not, everything’s normal. I was in contact with both WordPress and Akismet support and they both told me nothing is wrong at all. So there you have it. Straight from the mouths of not one but two horses.

Love the calm, descriptive opening paragraph that contrasts so well to what happens to poor Josh. Shattered legs really is something to have to deal with on holiday. I hope he gets out that globe whole and soon.
