FF – All in a Day’s Work
Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Dawn M. Miller.

009 grimaced as he flew out the train window. Twisting his body to avoid the girders, he shot past the decomposing corpse of 004. Popular spot for chucking spies off trains…
Hitting the water, he struggled to the bank where a local wrapped him in a blanket, pointing to his shack.
“Welcome, Unfortunate Spies!” was written in seventeen different languages.
Very popular spot…
The local offered him the “Spy Pack” – fake passport, gadget watch, Walther PPK. 009 upgraded to “Deluxe”, which included bullets. Gonna need those…
Shooting the enterprising local (loose end) he headed off. All in a day’s work.

Poor local! Reduced to a loose end 😀

And all he wanted to do was help/exploit 009 🙂

At least there was someone with a blanket. Hey, spots are popular for a reason!

Something the local hoped to take advantage of!

Very popular spot, indeed. Whoever is in charge of cleanup will have a heck of a job. One can only hope 004 will consumed by the wild.

I’m sure the local wildlife will “take care” of him.

That local’s name wouldn’t happen to be Buster, would it?

I believe it was “Igor Busterski”. A relative, perhaps?

Maybe there was a silencer in the Spy Pack. Then it would have ended in a “phut”.

Let’s hope he doesn’t end up back there looking for a local to help him out in the future!

He’s burnt his bridges at that bridge, and no mistake!

He’d better hope the local had no ties to other spies. I can see a much more appreciative spy the local helped out before come gunning for 009 in retaliation!

Maybe that will be his next challenge – avoiding the local’s large group of multi-national fans. He’s in big trouble!

I enjoyed that spoof on the implausibility of the Bond genre and its total lack of conscience! Nice humorous tale!

I want to hear that the local wore a bullet proof vest because surely 009 isn’t the first one to tie up loose ends.

That’s a very good point. The local probably gets shot on a regular basis!

What!?! He shot the local? Bad 009! I hope he returns and there’s no help to be had.

Indeed – who knows, he could get thrown off the same train in the same place again next week!

What happened to 007? Why 004 and 009 are thrown off in place of 007?
LikeLike
There’s no way the great 007 would ever get taken by surprise and thrown off a train! All the “00”s are “licensed to kill” so I just grabbed a couple of others.

Nasty 009. How spoiled he is not thinking of all the other secret agents to come after him. He needs to retire. 😦 — Suzanne

Dear Ali,
All in a day’s work? What a guy. It’s always fun to see where your twisted mind will go with a prompt. Entertaining stuff as always.

Dear Rochelle,
Obviously that bridge is ideal for chucking spies off of. It’s slightly worrying that it was my very first thought, though 🙂
I’m glad you liked it!

Was he at all surprised to find out the enterprising local was a quasi-hologram set in place by the archenemy to infect him with tracking devices that would explode and kill him if any attempt was made to tamper with the seemingly expendable local?
lol!!! couldn’t help myself! This was too much fun!!
LikeLike
He was surprised for the milliseconds it took for the explosion to end him. Hopefully that was enough time to reflect on his heinous action!

Seventeen different languages… impressive! What’s a difference between a tourist trap and a spy trap? 😉
LikeLike
A spy trap is more dangerous for the people running it 🙂

Especially when the people running the spy trap sell weapons and ammunition. 😀
