FF – All the Fun of the Fair
Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Roger Bultot.
Drake looked across at the amusement park as he sipped his pint. People roaming, playing the coconuts, visiting the fortune teller… riding the roller coaster.
He would never ride one. Not his kind of thrill. Far too dangerous.
Anything could happen.
He listened to their screams, screams which could change from exhilarated excitement to terror in an instant. At the push of a button.
His finger hovered over the remote’s trigger… trembled… and relaxed.
Not today. He got his thrills holding people’s lives in his palm. Life… or death. Shame for it to end too soon. Later perhaps. Maybe tomorrow…

He’s not entirely sane, I feel.

Very sinister! Will he, or won’t he push the button……?

He will, but when…?

They’ll never know how lucky they were that day. I hope he decides to keep on waiting…

I’m betting it’ll get the best of him sooner or later…

Dear Ali,
That sounds like a ride to avoid.

Dear Rochelle,
As with all roller coasters if you’re me, but this one particularly!

God decides to come down to earth for the day. Glad his palm remains relaxed for now…

Lucky for today’s riders, maybe not for tomorrow’s…

I think the thrill for him is that he controls their fate…life or death…he chooses. Very sinister indeed!!

Yes, he loves that power. I don’t think he’s entirely sane 😮

Sounds like he likes to play god.

He does indeed. A fickle and capricious one.

This was very convincing. Who knows who’s out there, drawing a bead on you as they say.

Yes, a pretty chilling thought.

I’m sure such perverts exist, who get a thrill and false sense of power from killing people. Very chilling!

It’s best not to think of such things I reckon. I’d be too scared to go out 😦

Maybe tomorrow. I hear the possum scouts are taking a field trip to the park….

I wonder if he really has the power to destroy or just thinks he has. There’s a lot of that going around these days. He wouldn’t be related somehow to our president, would he? 😀 Suzanne

Who, my story’s psychopath, Drake Trump? No, I don’t think so… 😉

Just as I was thinking what a nice old fella he sounded it all changed. Hopefully, it’s only in his mind.

in a macabre kind of way, he’s getting his thrill. unbeknownst to him, the cops are already on his trail.

Ah, but are they though…

Oooo the power. I’d say he gets his thrills just fine.

Let’s hope he keeps it going and never presses the button.

Life is just one big bang to him. Savouring the moment, perhaps when he knows who is on the ride then that will be the day.

Yes, he could well be waiting for a prime target.

One has to savor these things. Once he presses that button, it’s over in a bang.
LikeLike
Yes, he wants to draw it out as long as possible.

Maybe if he delays long enough, he’ll enjoy the suspense more than the thought of the kill.
Excellent take on the prompt, D-man 😀

That’s where he gets his thrill, the power. Maybe he’ll die of old age (or over-excitement) before he presses the button…

What a horrid idea that someone like him is just sitting there, waiting for the urge…

Yes, pretty chilling 😦

Sheesh. What a creep. Then again, there are others who do the same looking at little boys and girls. As creepy as they come.

Hopefully someone will notice something is wrong before he presses the button.

The way you create his perspective is well done, feeling a power over innocent people. Creepy and believable.

Thanks, creepy indeed. I’m glad you liked it!

Nobody should have that much power!

For sure. Hopefully whatever he planted on the track is a dud.

In Morocco people kept saying hurry kills… It’s rarely been more obvious.
