FF – Lesson Learned?
Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Na’ama Yehuda.

“Look there, Son, the remnants of New York, its skyscrapers gone, destroyed by GMMMGs.”
“GMMMGs?”
“Genetically-Modified Massively-Mutated Giraffes. See them on the horizon, towering over the destruction.”
“What happened?”
“Bred for food, but everyone loves giraffes. No bugger would eat them. They escaped and ran amok.”
Ooooh Gaaaaawd, we didn’t know. WE DIDN’T KNOW!
“As Mr Melodrama says, it was a huge mistake. Now we live at sea, starving. But never fear, once the genetically-modified massively-mutated dolphin programme reaches fruition, food for everyone!”
Huh. I love dolphins. I’m not eating dolphins.
Me neither. Not gonna eat Flipper.
Lesson NOT learned!
Humans never learn! 😀

Nope, nor will be ever 😮

Yep. Mankind never learns. Or as one wit put it, “The cause of problems is solutions.”
(Speaking of which, I hear that mankind is back building reactors, as nuclear power as the energy of the future. Clean energy & all that.)
Great take on the prompt — who but you woulda thought of giraffes? 🙂

Dear Ali,
Raising giraffes for food? I don’t think I could bring myself to eat one.

Now that Neil pointed out the cranes that’s all I see. Of course that’s what happened. Can I see the story as fun and tragic at the same time? Of course I can 🙂

They’re definitely giraffes. I see no cranes 🙂

Oh sure…. those Northerners won’t eat giraffe. But in the South, they’re not starving…. if it has four legs, it’s good eatin’!

Wait until they get to the Genetically-Modified Massively-Mutated bugs. That’ll be a feast! And I don’t see no cranes either. 😀

The dolphins might eat them and go on to rule the world, you never know. Genetically-Modify Massively-Carefully!

I love the idea of GMMMG’s, another human fix/ gesture towards saving the planet, which doesn’t work. The giraffe and dolphin dialogue is priceless.

We try sometimes, but in a rather short-sighted way.
