FF – Eternal Vista

Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Bradley Harris.

He gazed out over the beautiful vista before him, feeling his heart rate decrease, his blood pressure lower as he found serenity. The lapping waves, the sun shining off the bottom of the clouds, the lush, green grass. The corpse at his feet.

Oh, mate. When I said ‘what’s mine is yours’, I didn’t mean my wife.

He’d bury him here, he thought. Such a lovely view to enjoy for eternity.

Don’t worry, mate, you won’t be stuck here all alone for long. I’ve brought company.

With that in mind, he returned to the car to fetch his cheating wife.

That’s nice of him. A killer with the sensibility of a funeral director selling burial plots

At least their view is heavenly and they will always be together now.

A bright and breezy murderer. It seems he took the news badly when he found out…

Let’s hope he buries them below the high tide line. Preferably where there is a lot of crab activity. 🦀

    What Lyn said…
Something rather karmic about this story. Moral: don’t cheat.

Yep. Though usually marriage counselling or divorce is the preferred solution.

I like how quickly you dropped the bomb. I can’t argue with the final resting place he chose for them. It’s quite lovely.

Why didn’t I think of that when my wife cheated?

He handled that well. After how they treated him, he was kind enough to give them that beautiful view and let them be together. Very mature. Other than the murder bit, of course.

Moral – never trust a chap who says ‘What’s mine is yours’. Especially if he’s a psychopath. Well written story, Ali.

Wow! Quite a shock when the corpse appeared out of the blue. And now I’m wondering – has the ‘cheating wife’ in the back seat already been dispatched or is he going to finish her off on the spot?

How considerate of him to consider their view for eternity! Maybe it’s not the best idea to bury them in the sand…

Maybe they’ll slip slide away when the tide comes in and get a nice sea trip as well.

Well there’s nothing wrong with his logistics. Might be a tad short in the humanity stakes but it’s not a deal breaker.
