Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Ted Strutz.

“Hi, excuse me?”

“I’m in the middle of Children’s Story Time…”

“Won’t take a sec. Do you have a copy of Winnie-the-Pooh and the Horrible Demise of Eeyore?”

Rapunzel and the Tower Plummet? Jack and Jill 2 – Undead Resurrection?”

“This is a Children’s Library, Sir!”

The Famous Five and the Mystery of the Disembowelled Corpse?

“Please leave! You’re upsetting the children, giving them ideas!”

“Humph. Bye, then.”

“Now, children, where was I?”

“Please, Sir, Goldilocks, Sir! I reckon Baby Bear’s gonna rip her face off! I would if she ate my porridge!”

“Aargh! What will I tell the parents…?”

Don’t mess with librarians! it sounds like the kids had a heads up on your book choices lol

    • January 21, 2022 at 3:59 pm

They are the books they actually want to read 🙂

  5. January 21, 2022 at 12:17 pm

Ah, those fully little monsters called children.

  6. January 21, 2022 at 12:20 pm

Some of those old fairytale are quite horrific as it is. Kids love it!

    • January 21, 2022 at 4:02 pm

Yeah, just give them a book of the originals!

  7. January 21, 2022 at 3:39 pm

  9. January 21, 2022 at 5:41 pm

I’m sure the kids loved his interruption! I know I did!

    • January 23, 2022 at 7:29 am

It’s the highlight of their day!

  10. January 21, 2022 at 7:16 pm

Tell them it’s their fault. Usually works.

  11. January 21, 2022 at 7:39 pm

I can recall a few fairytales that can make your hair stand on up. haha
    Have a wonderful weekend …
    Isadora 😎

It doesn’t take much for kid’s imagination to run away. The Brothers Grimm are grinning! Made me chuckle.

    • January 23, 2022 at 7:31 am

One little word in the wrong place and they’re away!

  13. January 21, 2022 at 10:19 pm

Teehee! Fun concept, Ali. How about the Little Match Girl burns down the Town Hall? And ‘Red’ Riding in the ‘hood?

Ha, I love the second one, clever!

  14. January 21, 2022 at 10:58 pm

I’m thinking the kids were just waiting for the perfect opening supplied by the disruptor!

  15. January 22, 2022 at 3:25 am

them books in the children’s section are meant to terrify parents not kids. 🙂

  16. January 22, 2022 at 7:45 am

Fractured fairy tales? Kids love their stories gory, that’s for sure. Fun story.

  17. January 22, 2022 at 4:13 pm

Wonderful. I suspect the kids payed the interruptor.

  18. January 23, 2022 at 2:09 pm

I imagine the kids would love those books as much as they relish the most horrific fairy tales.

  19. January 23, 2022 at 3:47 pm

I do hope they hurry up with the storytime… I have a shelf critter play to act out for the children before the library closes!

    • January 23, 2022 at 4:24 pm

      I’m sure they’ll love Zeeba!

  20. January 23, 2022 at 3:57 pm

You can keep the horror stories out of the children’s library, but you can’t control their imagination. 🙂 The Brothers Grimm wrote some gruesome fairy tales…they knew what was good for children! 😉

  21. January 25, 2022 at 1:35 am

What a rude rabble rouser! Grrrrrrrr. Of course, the bloodier and more violent the better they like them. Video Gamed the Reading Star. We’re doomed!

  22. January 25, 2022 at 9:15 am

MOL…little pitchers have long ears huh? Extra Pawkisses🐾😽💞

  23. January 25, 2022 at 10:56 am

    Dear Ali,

I suspect the little tykes have seen worse on television.;) Interesting titles those. 😉

    • January 28, 2022 at 7:33 am

      Dear Rochelle,
Very likely, and on the internet on their phones.

  24. January 25, 2022 at 6:24 pm

LOL. I’ve read worse in the children’s library. You just need to know where to look. (And tykes like me always knew where to look….)

    • January 28, 2022 at 7:34 am

Those books hidden away round the back 🙂
