Sharing My World 28-10-2019

Here is my post for Melanie’s Share Your World.

Where’s the line between respectful disagreement and being downright mean (bullying) to someone?
They’re completely different things. The first is when two people simply disagree on something, the second is a targeted and sustained attack, usually for no particular reason.

Would you prefer to live in a world where alcohol was free or where politicians were honest?
Free alcohol sounds like chaos to me. A bit of honesty in politicians would be nice, as long as they can lie when required… “no, that wasn’t our nuclear submarine that just snuck past your main harbour…”

What’s one habit you have that your family or friends think is rather childish?
You’d have to ask them. Playing computer games, maybe?

Would you rather go to a big party and rub shoulders with the rich and famous or go to an amazing quiet garden that hardly anyone has ever visited?
Rub shoulders with the rich and famous? I can’t think of anything worse. I’ll take the garden, please!

What do you think of the idea of “trick or treat or money for a charity” as a way of making Halloween more useful?
I pretty much forgot about Halloween this year, to be honest. I did get one visitor and fortunately had some sweets in. There’s no way we could police the charity thing. And getting all the tiny tots a charity collection licence would be a real pain…

Perhaps we should have Christmas all year round. Now, wouldn’t that be fun?

All money collected by the kids goes straight into their Brand New PlayStation fund. It would be for a good cause..

What about politicians who are honest after consuming copious amounts of alcohol?
I agree-the gardens are the best choice! 🙂

That makes me think, I wonder if any of them ever get wasted down the local and accidentally divulge the nuclear launch codes?
      “… ‘cos, I always remember, see, it’s weird, it’s the same as me wife’s birthday… I really love you, man… (bleurgh)” 🙂

Thanks for the smiles, Alistair. Always a pleasure to read your contribution to Share Your World. I come away chuckling at the very least, and at the best? Laughing uproariously. You got a gift my friend!

I only had one trick or treater too this year! I didn’t answer the door, because I am a grinch! Lol! No really its because I live alone and am blind! Not safe to just open the door to anyone!

Very wise. The one visitor I had was my godson’s sister and her mum. I knew they’d be coming! Now I have more Haribo left over than one person can safely eat 🙂

Good answers, Ali. I hate “big” anything these days. Crowds make me nervous. —- Suzanne

Me too. I always wait a couple of weeks after a film is released to go to the cinema so the rush has died down.

I would rub shoulders with the rich and famous and then sneak out into the garden and laugh at it all… great answers, Ali!

That’s a good idea. An escape to the lovely garden when it all gets a bit much. Don’t forget to fill lots of napkins with high class hors d’oeuvres before you go 🙂

The garden in your pictures looks idyllic. Which one is it?

It’s lovely. It’s Bodnant Gardens, a National Trust property in North West Wales 🙂

As much as I like my drinks, I can’t imagine how awful free alcohol would be! Honest politicians would be lovely, although I’m sure the people who find ways to excuse someone like Trump’s BS would continue to do so.

I’d hate to be on Trump’s clean-up crew, um, I mean staff. Imagine their terror every time their phones beep as another tweet comes rolling off the press…

Did you see that someone in his admin tried to get Twitter to put a 15-minute delay on his Tweets?! Craziness.

Ha, a bit like putting a 5 sec delay on a live TV broadcast in case something needs bleeping out 🙂

Rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous sounds absolutely dreadful to me too. Now a party where all the politicians had been given free alcohol spiked with something that made them tell the truth for a change might be interesting!

That would be amazing. Though probably I’d hear some things about the inner secret workings of the government that I’d rather not know…
