Sharing My World 30-12-2019

Here’s my post for Melanie’s Share Your World. This week is a reflection of last year.

Advance warning – my answers are very boring. I see time passing as a continuous thing rather than packaging everything into “years” and having a fresh new start, so I wasn’t really paying much attention to last year.

What was the single best thing that happened in your life this past year?
Hmm. I can’t think of one single best thing. It’s not like I won the lottery or anything. And that would count as miraculous anyway since I don’t buy a ticket.

The most challenging?
I have nothing really challenging to report. It was just a normal year.

One thing you learned in 2019?
On boy, these questions! It was just another year.

Given all your experiences, insights, and lessons learned in 2019, what’s the best advice you could give yourself for 2020?
Sorry to be boring but life just goes on. 2019 was the same as 2018, 2017, 2016…

What’s the best meal/food you ate in 2019?
I don’t know. I wasn’t really paying attention. I seem to remember there was a very nice burger at some point. Though that might have been in 2018.

What are three activities you plan to use in the coming year to relieve stress?
I have no particular plans.

Any resolutions you’d care to share?
I don’t make resolutions. I don’t like the guilt when I don’t follow them.

And so 2019 was about the same as other years. How honest of you. Many people would probably make up something. 😀 — Suzanne

One year’s much like another, generally 🙂

😀 I seem to remember you posted a photo of pizza that you made yourself. I would say that was the highlight of 2019.

Totally honest Share Your World, Alistair. You must share your secret, some time, for doing that…letting the time slip stream just flow. I’d LOVE to have that ability.. Sorry about the repetitive and same old same old type questions. I hadn’t realized (until I read your answers) how very alike they all were. My bad. :\

There’s nothing wrong with the questions, it’s just that nothing much happened 🙂 Or maybe it did but I’ve forgotten…

Refreshing change of pace from all the blogs reflecting upon lessons of the last year and making plans and priorities for the new year. I’ll admit that I fall into that category myself — I really enjoy the reflecting and planning bits, and figure that the changing of the year is as good a time as any to hit the mental reset button. But I was reminded over the holidays, when I was utterly unable to get any of my family members to engage in conversations on such topics, that a lot of folks don’t give a rat’s patootie about such things. So despite all the blog posts you might see to the contrary, you’re definitely not alone with that attitude, Alistair!

Time just passes as far as I’m concerned. I get that people use the new year to make a fresh start and everything but I don’t really see things that way 🙂

If we were still on the old system, the new year wouldn’t begin until March 25. Who arbitrarily decided to put the start of the year in winter anyway? Shouldn’t it metaphorically be the first day of Spring?

It’s nuts. The start of winter is even 3 weeks apart from itself, depending on whether you go for the meteorological or equinox definition. And while we’re at it, let’s move Christmas to late January. I can handle December, but by late January it’ all getting a bit much, we could do with some festive fun.

You know, that’s EXACTLY how I felt about the share my world this week. I did learn that our prez is even more of an asshole than I previously imagined, but I could have said that every year since 2016. I can’t even remember a special meal, though we DID go out to eat once or twice, but damned if I remember much about it, only that it happened.

Frozen pizza comes out pretty well and I make a pretty decent version of shrimp fried rice, but I ate it more than once, so it doesn’t count.

    Happy whatever year it is!
