FF – Sharing MY World 19-04-2021

Here is my post for Melanie’s Share Your World.

What was the last TV show you binge-watched? If you don’t watch TV (congratulations by the way) what’s the last thing you binged ON?
I don’t generally binge-watch anything. The definition is “the practice of watching multiple episodes of a television programme in rapid succession”. I never watch more than two episodes at a time and then rarely.

The closest I’ve come recently is “A Discovery of Witches”. I discovered the second series was only available for a week longer so I had to watch it at speed 😮

What’s your most prized possession and why?
Ha, that’s easy, it’s my… ahem. No, I can’t put that.

I don’t have a “prized possession” and never have. Most useful, most fun etc, but not most “prized”. That implies something very special/personal.

If you had the time and inclination, what would you volunteer for?
Never volunteer for anything, that’s my motto. Wait until you’re manipulated into it, then you can be all passive-aggressive and act like a martyr.

Do you think that humans will ever be able to live together in harmony?
Yes, for sure. We just need to be invaded by aliens. Then we’ll all come together as one species against them.

“Harmony through shared hatred”. Write that one down, people. It’s how the world works.

Aliens, where the heck are you?

Yeah, hurry up and invade before we wipe ourselves out.

Now about sth that has nth to do with aliens, though I’d feel better if it did.
I watched Cornwall on BBC Travel. Breathtaking nature, all so serene and peaceful, until I heard of the industrial decline and mines and food banks and and and. I was taken aback by what I saw, to say the least.

It’s not quite as bad as it sounds. The industrial decline happened a long long time ago and there are food banks all over the country, but Cornwall is a very poor county. Low wages, very high house prices. Rich people from London etc keep coming down and buying second homes. The past year wasn’t great as tourism is one of the biggest industries.

Cornish lads are fishermen and Cornish lads are miners too but when the fish and tin are gone what are the Cornish boys to do?

Thanks for Sharing YOUR World Alistair! “Harmony Through Shared Hatred”, hmm? I think you’ve come up with some politician’s next campaign slogan! Make sure they pay you appropriate royalties! 😉 Very insightful answers to all the questions, and you would have been within bounds to suggest your *ahem* was your most prized possession…I’ve met a lot of men who thought the same thing actually. Some had a point, others? Well somebody had to care I suppose. Have a fabulous week!

I’m very proud of my “ahem” 😉

Perhaps not all the aliens were in favour of invading. You have to have sympathy with them. Maybe some of the most hostile had a disturbed childhood, or were not allowed to play with their zbutfreas when they wanted to! We may have deserved to be invaded – have you thought about that?

Definitely some of your best answers! BTW, there is a meeting of the Harmony Through Shared Hatred Society next week. Please volunteer to be the keynote speaker.

In our last moments, we would point fingers at each other, blaming the other side for secretly sending the aliens here to cause trouble…. then be blown to smithereens, which would finally bring harmony to earth!

All the animals will be very pleased to have the Earth to themselves. Until they start squabbling. The rise of the squirrels!

You are as optimistic as I am.
