Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World.

What is your favourite smell? What memory does it remind you of?
Bacon cooking. It reminds me of food!

What type of pet do you have or want to have?
I recently had a pet mouse. I called him Moby.

Well, I say “pet”. He was living under the fridge. I bought a couple of traps. Snap squish!

Only joking! Here is Moby. Sorry about the picture quality.

moby1

I drove Moby out to the local owl sanctuary and let him go.

Only joking!

It was the local cats’ home.

Only joking!

I let him go in the countryside.

Yesterday Moby II joined him. Here is Moby II.

moby2

I’d just got back from the work Christmas party at 23:30 (40 miles away) and I was not impressed that I had to drive out into the country again. But you mustn’t leave mousies in the trap too long or they get stressed. Hopefully the Mobys will find each other.

Are you usually late, early, or right on time?
I’m always early. I don’t like to be late.

For recharging, would you rather meditate, swim, walk, listen to music, write, read, yoga, qigong, other?
I plug myself in. I’m a robot! WE ARE LIVING AMONG YOU.

Just kidding.

Or am I? AM I?

Sharing My World 2016 Week 49

Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World.

What do you value most in a friendship?
Ooh, really huge expensive birthday presents. Wait, reading that back to myself, it sounds a bit mercenary. Someone who listens and doesn’t judge. There you go, that’s better.

Do you prefer eating the frosting of the cake or the cupcake first?  Do you prefer a specific flavour?
I eat both at the same time. They’re designed to complement each other, and they do! Any flavour is good for me.

Have you ever been in a submarine?  If you haven’t, would you want to?
I seem to remember going in one a long time ago. It was one of those decommissioned ones from years ago for people to walk around, so it didn’t have any atomic torpedoes or anything on it. It was also on the water rather than under it. I quite like enclosed spaces, but I’m not so sure I would like being under all that water as well.

If 100 people your age were chosen at random, how many do you think you’d find leading a more satisfying life than yours?
Oh, golly gosh, cor blimey and whatnot, what a question! Sounds like something you’d be asked in a psych evaluation. I’m going to play it safe and say 50.

Sharing My World 2016 Week 48

Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World. Week 48 already, blimey!

share-your-world2

Do you prefer eating foods with nuts or no nuts?
No nuts for me. Though funnily enough I really like chocolate with a praline filling. I just Googled “praline” and as I suspected, it has nuts in!

If someone made a movie of your life would it be a drama, a comedy, a romantic-comedy, action film, or science fiction?
It would be a flop, I expect. Frightfully boring and whatnot.

Who talks real sense to you?
Me! I do. It probably isn’t good sense but it always makes sense to me at the time. Otherwise I wouldn’t be saying it to myself.

Do you have a favourite board game?
Board game? Bored game more like! Haha. Hahahaha. Ahem.

Just kidding. Though I prefer video games. Monopoly is okay. I like games where I don’t like to think. Like Trivial Pursuit – you either know it or you don’t. I do enough thinking at work, thanks. I expect we’ll be playing some games around Christmas time!

Sharing My World 2016 Week 47

November 27, 2016 30 comments

Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World. This one is a “grateful for” special in honour of the USA’s Thanksgiving Day. Cee’s recommends a few words representing the first thing which comes to mind.

share-your-world2

Your home life?
Anteater.

No, this “first thing which comes to mind” isn’t going to work. I’ll try again.

Relaxed, mainly stress-free. I love that after all these years I finally own a little house.

Your family?
My immediate family live nearby and we’ll all be seeing each other at Christmas!

Your blogging community?
They’re such a lovely bunch, reading all my stuff and producing quality works for me to read 🙂

Your city or immediate area in which you live?
It’s a nice quiet little village and I’m far enough from the main road that I don’t get any traffic noise. I’m grateful for the peace and quiet.

The regional area in which you live?
I’ve published many many pictures of the lovely area I live in. Let me find another one. Or two.

St Michael's Mount 6

StNectan3

The country where you live?
It’s free, democratic and there’s enough to go round. Not that everyone gets enough sadly.

You?
Me! I’m reasonably healthy and content 🙂

Sharing My World 2016 Week 46

Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World.

share-your-world2

Are you a traveller or a homebody?
I’m a homebody. It’s okay to take little trips but it’s nice to get home again.

What kind of TV commercial would you like to make? Describe it.
I wouldn’t really like to make one at all. I don’t like watching them either. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I watched an advert on TV – I always record anything I watch on broadcast TV so even if it’s a commercial channel (i.e. it has adverts) I can skip them.

Describe yourself in a word that starts with the first letter of your name.
That’s “A” for “Ali” so let’s give this a go.

Asshole. Oh dear, let’s try again. Asswipe. Oh no, this isn’t going well. Wait! I have one, it’s coming. Aaaaaaaaaaaasshat.

Darn. Let’s try “D” for “draliman” instead.

Douche. Douchebag. Argh, must… concentrate… on… word… d…d…d…d…douchecanoe.

Dammit.

Ooh, I have one! Dirigible. There you go. It’s not going to get any better than that I’m afraid.

List some fun things for a rainy day.
Reading, watching Amazon and Netflix, playing on my PS4 (currently “Elder Scrolls Online”), taking a nice nap. This is all stuff that works on any day!

Sharing My World 2016 Week 45

November 13, 2016 35 comments

Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World. How did it get to be week 45? I’m not ready to start thinking about Christmas. Not ready, I say.

share-your-world2

Describe your own outlook on life in seven words or less. (NOTE:  does not  have to be a sentence.)
Just take it day by day.

Where do you like to vacation?
I just stick around here.

Candy factories (sweets or treats including chocolate) of the entire world have become one and will now be making only one kind of candy. Which kind, if you were calling the shots?
I really like anything with a chocolate outside and some kind of squishy inside, like praline or whatever, so I’ve decided to team up with Dawn over at The Day After (Lingering Visions) and have a Lindt truffle factory. We only need one more vote to make it happen. It’s the law! Who’s with us?

Complete this sentence: Something that anyone can do that will guarantee my smile is…
Smile at me. It would be rude not to smile back. And it’s nice to be smiled at.

Sharing My World 2016 Week 44

Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World.

share-your-world2

What was your favourite subject in school?
Physics, I guess, because it was interesting and easy. My next choice would be English Language as we got to write stories. These days it could well be computers/ITC/whatever they call it, but we didn’t have computers in those days.

If you could have a servant come to your house every day for two hours, what would you have them do?
Cleaning and tidying of course! They would have the weekend off so they could do one room per day. However, I only have four rooms so on the Friday they could sort out the garden 🙂

Where did you live when you were in the third grade of school?  Is it the same place or town you live now?
I’m not sure what “third grade” means, so I’m going to add three to the approximate starting age of school and get roughly eight years old – I’m hoping that’s what it means!

I’ve done a full circle – Cornwall to Surrey to Germany to Surrey to Hertfordshire to Hampshire to Ireland to Cornwall! Not in the same place exactly, but close 🙂

In your opinion, list some places that are great for shopping?
Not wishing to break its near 100% record on Share Your world this week, I’m going to say Amazon. I buy nearly everything except food on there. I view shopping as a chore rather than thinking somewhere is “great”.

Sharing My World 2016 Week 43

October 30, 2016 35 comments

Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World.

share-your-world2

What are you really glad you did yesterday?
It’s rare that I’m “really” glad about dong something. Mostly life just goes on in a routine. I suppose I’m “really” glad I did the weekly shopping so I have something to eat.

Would you prefer a one floor house or multiple levels?
I like going upstairs to bed. However I worry that as I get older the stairs will no longer be my friend. Maybe I should get a stair lift thingy installed just in case. With a little turbo charger because I feel the need, the need for speed.

Have you done something you truly want to do today?
I only just got out of bed, so not really. But anyway, as with the first question I just do my usual things from day to day.

What plans did you have as a teenager that didn’t happen? Are you happy it didn’t work out that way?
I didn’t have “plans” as a teenager. That implies some thought, working out how to make something happen. I wanted stuff, wanted various silly jobs depending on age. “Teenager” covers everything from not long out of primary school to part-way though university, pretty much. So we’re talking plans to be a champion football player or pop star at the lower end all the way up to some sort of idealised life plans at the upper end.

It’s probably best they didn’t work out. Plans made at age 13 are rarely realistic or remotely achievable.

Sharing My World 2016 Week 42

Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World.

share-your-world2

If you wanted to de-clutter where you live, what room / space would you start with?  (And why, if you’re feel like admitting to it.)
Either my bedroom or my living room table. My bedroom has boxes of paper work from years ago which need shredding really. Maybe one day I’ll get around to it. As for my living room table, that’s where post and such goes. Then it’s supposed to get thrown away, shredded or filed but I never seem to get round to it more than once every few months.

coffeetable

If you want to remember something important, how do you do it (sticky note on the fridge, string around your finger, etc.), and does it work?
I pop it in my Google calendar. That’s in the cloud so it syncs across my phone, home computer and work computer. I always set it up with notifications and email alerts, so yes, it can’t help but work. I get constantly bombarded from multiple devices until I do whatever it was.

For more general things I make a list.

If you could create a one room retreat just for yourself, what would be the most important sense to emphasise:  sight (bright natural light, dim light, etc.), hearing (silence, music, fountain, etc.), smell (candles, incense, etc), touch (wood, stone, soft fabrics, etc.), or taste (herbal tea, fresh fruit, etc.)?
What am retreating from? I live on my own in a quiet spot so my whole house is my retreat, really. I suppose if that wasn’t the case I would try to exclude all outside noise.

If you could interview one of your great-great-great grandparents, who would it be (if you know their name) and what would you ask?
I only knew my two grand mothers. I guess if we’re going back even further I’d want to know all about their life.

Sharing My World 2016 Week 41 and dralibread!

Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World.

share-your-world2

Do you believe in love at first sight?
Nope. I don’t see how that can really exist. Doesn’t that mean you’re falling in love with the way someone looks, pretty much? That’s lust at first sight.

Your first car?
It was a 1985 Ford Fiesta, in a very light blue, almost grey colour. It served me well(ish) for six or seven years, at which point it went into the crusher 🙂

Who taught you to ride a bike? How did it go?
My dad, I guess. I don’t know how it went the first time, but I had stabilisers so I wouldn’t have fallen off. I can’t remember much in detail from so long ago!

Ugly and rich or beautiful and poor?
Somewhere in the middle. That way I can slip around without drawing undue attention. Okay, rich. No, wait, beautiful. Rich. I can’t decide.

What was the first dish you could cook?
I suppose it was a fry up, at least that’s the first thing I can remember. I had to learn how to do it for my “Home Help” badge in the Cub Scouts. Does throwing stuff in a frying pan and waiting until it’s done really count as cooking?

On a “cooking” note I baked my first bread last week. The cheese and herbs on the top got a little “browned”, but otherwise, it had a nice crust and was very soft on the inside. Tasty dralibread 🙂
