FF – Mr Bond?
Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Shaktiki Sharma.
It took ages to get the photo uploaded this week – it was a little buggy! Ha ha ha. Ahem. 🙂
Note – those aren’t typos in the final sentence, I was trying to do his accent.

“Wow, this new tech is great!”
“Yeah, it’s bug… which is a bug!”
“Fly closer, we need to hear what they’re saying.”
“Okay… wait, it’s veering off course… heading towards that ultra-violet light… oh no…”
Fzzzzt
“A bit too bug-like, perhaps?”
“We’re going down, we’re going down! Okay, we still have video and audio.”
“Who’s this approaching with the sharp suit and Martini, shaken not stirred… oh my word, it’s HIM!”
A foot descends, crushing the bug. The last the operators hear is a strong Scottish accent.
“High-tech amateursh. Now, where wash I, my dear…? Ah yesh, sho I shaid to M…”
Oh to be a fly on the wall…. but not a grasshopper on the ground.

Ha, very good. Connery is a bit reclusive these days so maybe this would be a way to see what he’s up to! 🙂

I’m sure with all his training he’d spot the intruder 🙂

Dear Ali,
I’m shaking my head. Perhaps they should have kept to good old wire-tapping. Funny stuff.

When facing the best of the best–even if they’ve been out of the public eye for a bit–perhaps, known and reliable would be best. So much money squashed.

Indeed, this was no time to be playing about with new and untested technology.
Ha, funny – “so much money squashed” 🙂

Ah, but to die under even the foot of the great Bond is an honour … Well, almost an honour.

If I have to go, there’s no shame in it being by Bond’s hand (or foot) 🙂

This is delightful in so many ways. “Which is a bug” segueing into “fly closer” was brilliant.

Funny Ali is back! 😁
I cringe at the thought of the loud crunching sound of the huge bug being squashed…
LikeLike
Yep!
Fortunately it would just have been the crunching of springs and internal workings 🙂 Unless they taped a camera and control circuit to a real bug of course… cyber bug!

Hiding the “bug” in plain sight… kinda backfired, didn’t it?
You are nuts, Ali… keep ’em coming!

It did. Maybe a less colourful one next time.

That does sound very much like one of those old Bond tricks. And it worked about as well against him as they normally do, too! Clever idea, Ali!

Thanks! He was never going to fall for the old “bug disguised as a bug” caper 🙂

Oh, no! Another one of M’s inventions down the drain or should I say squashed. Very funny, Ali! The accent totally works at the end.

Yeah, and you know it was probably that scoundrel Barack Obama who was doing the bugging. Jeesh, you’d think he had better things to do with his retirement! [j/k for those who don’t know me].
I love how you’ve imagined this, Ali. Funny and quirky as always. As to one’s favourite Bond age (ha!), I’ve always thought it depended on the Bond that was more contemporary to your time. In my case, Roger Moore. (Poor Timothy Dalton gets little credit, though I think he did a decent job. I’m not super-fond of Mr. Craig, though.) Anyyyyway, happy Friday. 🙂

I’m not overly fond of Daniel Craig either, he’s maybe a bit too serious for my taste. I loved Sean Connery and I also quite liked Pierce Brosnan, though in that case it may have been the story lines – quite tech and modern.
I’m glad you enjoyed my story and happy Friday to you too 🙂

Very funny, again! I particularly liked the idea of the bug being attracted to the violet light of the bug electrocutor. (Don’t know the technical name for it)

To spy on Mr Bond, I think they probably need a bug that’s a bit better at hiding! Love Connery’s accent. 🙂 A fun story, Ali.
