Friday Fictioneers – Flicker
Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was also supplied by our hostess!

Samson looked up at the lights in the window and reached for his walkie-talkie.
“They’re flickering, man.”
“But you can’t hear anything?”
“Nope. All quiet.”
“Good.”
“I’m coming down.”
He trudged down to the basement. “I told you we should’a used car batteries,” he grumbled.
“D’ya know how much they cost? It’s an old building. Dodgy electrics. It’ll be fine.” Mason walked over to the table and looked at the man strapped there.
“So, snitch, let’s try this again, shall we? Who’s your contact?”
He twisted a knob and the man screamed, his back arching. Upstairs, the lights flickered.
Oh boy, hope the buildings dodgy electrics doesn’t go up in …

It’s a poor pass when you can’t even get the right infrastructure to do a bit of torture: whatever is the world coming to?

They ought to complain to the council…

Their guest had better hope they haven’t paid their electricity bill 🙂

That would be a lucky escape!

Wow, Ali, that was dark. Either their electric wil go off or it’ll surge and kill the guy. Either could happen here. Our electric is off right now. Well done. 🙂 — Suzanne

Either is a possibility for sure! Maybe they should have chosen a more modern building.

Dear Ali,
Electrifying ending. I’m sure the victim is hoping for a power outage. Well done.

Eee, this is dark. Let’s hope the circuit breaker (is that the right word?) breaks down. Great take!

The circuit breaker is probably already shorted out with paper clips. But you never know, it might still blow!

Grim. Police stations nowadays! All those budget cuts.

Ha, I wasn’t thinking police station (I guess you got that from “snitch”) – I wish I had, that’s even better than mobsters 🙂

As long as the cable works, no one will notice. You have to know what’s important in this world.

Hope the lights go out, and the guy survives.
Your story made me hold my breath.
It was shocking (sorry, I really tried to avoid the pun, but it really DID shock me).
Brilliant narration, as always.

There’s every chance the electrics will give out, I reckon.
Getting more rare these days, but “Dark Ali” is still escaping on occasion for stories such as this 🙂
I’m glad you liked it!

This reminded me of the first electric chair and how long it took for the contraption to do its job. Very dark story!

Oh, I love it, another evil minded vision for Bay-Windows! I’m in good company! Poor guy, getting all lit up like that. Nasty, nasty torture. Excellent!

Mine’s almost tame compared to your wonderful story (though yours had a nice bit of humour mixed in!).

I already mistrust flickering lights because of Weeping Angels…now I have to worry about torture too! But I wonder…who is on what side here? Good or bad?
LikeLike
It’s a good job when I was a kid there weren’t any Weeping Angels – the Daleks scared me but they’re tame in comparison!
I was thinking mobsters, but Mick Lively had a great theory – these guys could be bad cops in the basement of a police station, trying to get information by any means necessary…
