Godrevy in High Zoom
I took a little trip to Godrevy to try out my new zoom lens. It’s an Olympus 75-300mm (150-600mm equivalent on my Micro 4/3 camera). I don’t have a tripod so I wanted to see how things went. Obviously I usually wouldn’t use a big zoom for landscapes but it did a good job of the flowers and I could barely see the helicopter or seal with the naked eye 🙂
Also, I know the white balance is off. My camera warned me about it but I don’t know which of the million buttons to push to do that so I left it alone.

Here’s a seal on max zoom. He’s there on the rock 🙂

He didn’t know. How could he know?
Every day, Jeff arrived at his desk. Every day he sifted through mounds of old data, sorting, checking and scanning. Every day, he shredded old data and threw the staples in a jar.
He could never have known…
… that his staple collection had achieved critical mass. That the staples had become self-aware.
In offices everywhere, staplers rose up against their masters. Fingers were pierced, while sheaves of important documents fell apart at inopportune moments. Important meetings collapsed. Civilisation fell. The world burned.
He hadn’t known. How could he have known?

Broom broom screeeeeeeeech!
“Planned to perfection. The ultimate heist. Entry codes obtained. Guards neutralised. Doors opened. Vaults cracked. A fortune in our hands. A fortune! And then you drive the getaway car along a road it won’t fit down! I can’t even open the doors. We’re stuck. I can hear the police closing in!”
Wee-wah wee-wah.
“Relax, dude. I’ve tricked this car out. Ejector seats. Hang on to your hat!”
Click.
“Five…”
“Is this a good time…”
“Four…”
“… to mention…”
“Three…”
“… that this car…”
“Two…”
“… still has…”
“One…”
“… its roof on?”
Whoomp! Splatter.

Geoff honked impatiently as he waited to board the ferry, his face a mixture of rage and embarrassment. The weather matched his mood, the rain unrelenting. He angrily ripped off his bow tie.
Why did she wait until he was stood at the front of the church to decide not to bother turning up? He’d even sent her thousands for the plane ticket.
Everyone had been supportive, of course. But he knew they were whispering… I told you so.
He would find her, long boat ride notwithstanding. After all, how many women called “Noon” could there possibly be in Thailand?
FF – Moon-Fall

That brightness in the sky is definitely an explosion, don’t you think?

Cheers resounded as the sky lit up, the revellers clinking glasses in salute. Members of “Project Assured Destruction”, they had worked long and hard to realise the dream.
Antimatter.
A new source of energy. Or the most devastating weapon ever devised. So devastating, their government had elected to test-fire on the moon.
It would be days before observers noticed the change in the moon’s orbit. Weeks before the first storms hit. Months before the lucky died in blinding, super-heated fire as fragments of the moon impacted. For the remainder – the lingering, painful deaths of a freezing nuclear winter.
